OUR STORY

A DIVINE ASSIGNMENT

In the year of 1993, at C.M.E.(Christian Methodist Episcopal) district conference in Little Washington, N.C., the Lord gave Pastor Carolyn K. Archie the call of birthing a ministry.

In 1995, the Lord began to work in, on, and through Pastor Carolyn K. Archie. The Lord began to give her visions on what was happening and what was yet to come. As days, months and even years passed by He continued to place a strong desire on her heart for the birthing of Higher Grounds Christan Ministries. He gave her a love and compassion for the people saved and unsaved. She was blessed with a great desire to nurture the Body of Christ.

While serving as a local minister under the leadership of Reverened Brenda W. Geter, for eight years, the Lord prepared her for pastoral ministry. Under the leadership of Reverened Geter, Pastor Archie learned many different aspects of the pastoral ministry.

In Februrary of 1998 the ministry was birthed. Pastor Archie began having weekly Bible studies at the Kent Executive Center in Salisbury, N.C. The ministry began with just a few in attendance(7). Pastor Archie held on to the vision that God had given her in spite of the small number of attendees. She remained steadfast that the ministry would grow and prosper in the Lords' time.

In May of 1998, Pastor Archie withdrew from the C.M.E.(Christian Methodist Episcopal) denomination and began attending Rowan Christian Assembly to recieve more teaching, and also to be on neutral grounds to further hear and heed the voice of the Lord.

On July 31st of 1998, the Lord opened up the door for Pastor Archie to acquire a building located at 910 South Fulton Street Salisbury, N.C.

On August 16th of 1998, marks the first official day of service for Higher grounds Christian Ministries, Inc. As the Body of Christ held their first service, utilizing plastic white lawn chairs for seeating and a karaoke box and stereo that was donated to the church for the sound equipment. The presence of God filled the place. We had a glorious time in the Lord as he added to our number.

The name Higher Grounds Christian Ministries was given by our heavenly Father to Pastor Archie. The name derives from the scripture Habakkuk 3:19 "The Lord God is my strength and He will make my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me walk upon the high places." The church came under the covering of The Missionary Church International of Columbia, S.C., where the Senior Bishop was Bishop Benjamin H. Covington.
